Tires Save Soil: Alliance Field Day at Stefan Vogelsang’s Farm Highlights Importance of Tire Technology and Pressure for Soil Health and Yield

The Field Day featured a series of hands-on demonstrations designed to highlight the critical role of tire technology in modern farming. Attendees had the opportunity to witness firsthand how Alliance’s innovative tire solutions, including VF (Very High Flexion) technology, can improve soil preservation, reduce fuel consumption, and enhance overall farm productivity.
How Tire Technology Saves Soil
Visitors experienced the impact of tire technology and tire pressure on soil firsthand through a series of field demonstrations. Key highlights included:
- Soil Compaction and Footprint Demo: Demonstrations showcased the difference in soil compaction between high-pressure and low-pressure tires. Attendees observed how Alliance VF tires, with their larger footprints, minimise soil compaction, improve water permeability, and ultimately contribute to higher yields. Host Stefan Vogelsang ran a tractor and tandem slurry tanker over the station, once at 0.8 bar of tire pressure and once at 2.6 bar. The result: at the lower tire pressure, the compaction caused by the machinery was 15 cm less deep, making it accessible with a standard cultivator. “This just goes to show the importance of avoiding compaction in lower layers to maintain a good soil structure and water permeability,” he commented.
- Slippage Demo: This demo illustrated how proper tire pressure and VF technology reduce slippage, optimize traction, and save energy, resulting in more efficient fieldwork.
- Tire Pressure Demo: Participants learned the importance of correct tire pressure settings and how they impact tire longevity, fuel efficiency, and work speed. Attendees even had the chance to measure and adjust tire pressures themselves, gaining practical insights into tire management.
